Sample 3D Photos Part 12

This week I put more 3D photos into the Anaglyph 3D format with a new one titled Tree 3 for my weekly 3D blog posting. This is a format that many can enjoy. As before, you'll need to look around for the red/cyan glasses so you can see the 3D effect.

The first 3D photo shows the path that I like to jog during my lunch break. There are plenty of trees that help make the air nice and fresh while I enjoy the outdoors.

The next two photos are of a dragonfly that was very helpful and sat there while I took some 3D photos. A natural at modeling, the dragonfly was very poised.

This collection starts with the art I photographed in 3D at a local park. It is a nice place to go for a break during the work day. After that there are some nice, quiet 3D photos of some rocks.

This weeks sample 3D photos are in a different format than usual. Before they were posted in either side by side or interlaced. Now they are posted in Anaglyph. These photos are from the same collection of 3D photos from before so you might have seen them in a different format in the earlier posts. Well, get yourself a pair of red and cyan anaglyph glasses, sit back and enjoy the 3D photos.

These first two 3D pictures are of flowers that I saw growing in the park. They were interesting to me because they were growing in the field and not in a flower bed.

The next photo is of some soft fountains that caught my eye.

The last two were of the rocks that I like to photograph in 3D. They are very easy to take pictures of since they are rarely too busy and are very patient during the whole process.

This week’s sample 3D photos are based on a natural themewith the last showing a contrast between the city and nature. They are in interlaced stereo 3D format andfrom some local parks located in Incheon.

Thefirst two photos are showing the trees that are growing in the local park. They are small and just starting to grow.

Sample 3D Photos Part 7

This week’s installment of sample 3D photos comes fromanother visit to a couple of local parks in Incheon. These parks are located in Songdo, Incheonand are not far from the international airport. So if you are visiting Incheon or Seoul, then you can make a quick stopand see them on your way to business.

This first sample 3D photo is of another pond and thesurrounding city. It is important tobalance the development with enough natural places like this to relax and unwind.

The second sample 3D photo is good to show the beauty of thefall in Songdo. The ground really comesalive with color.

This sample 3D photo is another of a rock. I really like taking photos of rocks eventhough they really don’t say much. Thisparticular rock was just lying there quietly next to some plants and shrubs.

Pavonine Korea’s Miracube brand of 3D solutions has come outwith a new solution for 3D filming. First Miracube came out with the Miracube VF171P 3D Viewfinder for 3D filming,and now there is a 10.2” version. Thismodel also has the dual HDSDI inputs as well as the HDSDI outputs for loopingto other 3D monitors or 3D viewfinders for 3D monitoring during 3D filming.

With real-timemonitoring, the synchronizer allows you to combine 2 feeds into a 3D moviefile. Sample 3D Photos Part 6

This is my sixth installment of the sample 3D photos. I continued with photos from a park. I am lucky to be in Incheon where there are some very nice parks to enjoy during my lunch breaks. The stereo 3D file format is interlaced.

This first sample stereo 3D photo is of the path that I like to walk along while enjoying the fresh air. In the cool winter air it is very refreshing and clears my mind from the stresses of the day.

After the statues, I saw another kind of art. This one is called "Jong Ja" in Korean. Immediately, I felt the need to capture it in 3D.

Hear is another collection of sample 3D photos for before the weekend. This time I am posting only three sample 3D photos in my second posting this week but the next post on Sunday or Monday should make up for the two less you see today. I hope you have an excellent weekend planned. It is important to recharge before you go back to work Monday.

This first photo is of a statue in the park nearby my work place. Like the earlier ones, I went with interlaced. I think for those without a 3D TV, you can try a 3D file conversion from interlaced to anaglyph.

I found a nice white flower sitting alone in a field. It looked pretty cool and I am not sure if it was planted or just popped up. Surrounded by weeds and leaves it adds a nice aesthetic to the park.

Here is the entrance sign for the local park. It was at a decent angle and standing out enough for a 3D photo. Of course, it's on it's side but I still like the look of it.

Here is my next posting of sample 3D photos. Again I chose to go ahead with interlaced. If there is a format that you prefer overinterlaced, then just let me know in the comments below.

This set of sample 3D photos was also taken from my trip to the park. The first two photos were taken up close for more of a pop out effect. I could have stood back more for depth but considering what I wanted to photograph, I decided to go for more pop out.

Miracube 3D Viewfinder VF-171P

Pavonine Korea’s Miracube brand of 3D solutions has come out with an excellent solution for 3D filming. The VF-171P is a 17” monitor with 2 HDSDI inputs for the left and right cameras. That allows you to see what you are filming in 3D while you film. There are grid lines that are adjustable in position, color and even the space between the grid lines.

Also both camera inputs can be flipped horizontally or vertically or even both at the same time. Now filmmakers can enjoy using a wider range of mirror rigs with the Miracube VF-171P 3D viewfinder. The added compatibility is important with the wide range of rigs available on the market.

In addition to the dual HDSDI inputs for the left and right cameras, there are dual HDSDI outputs allowing the user to loop the L/R feeds to other 3D viewfinders or 3D monitors with dual HDSDI inputs.

4D – Is it the Next Generation of 3D?

I just visited a small mini cinema for a 4D movie or was it a ride? Either way, it was an experience.

First I have a couple dozen movies to choose from. They all sounded very exciting but I always love being scared so I went for a scary one. I think 3D technology and horror was always a good mix, so I hoped it would be good with 4D as well.

After picking the movie they handed my wife and I our glasses and led us into the small cinema. It looks like it seats only 4 people allowing for a more personal feel. If there’s safety in numbers, I won’t be feeling it now.

The right begins and the seats are moving like a roller coaster. I was surprised with how strong the feeling was considering we didn’t actually go anywhere. It was shaking and twisting and turning giving you a very realistic feel the entire time.

Adding to that realistic effect was the 3D movie. We were given some cool looking 3D glasses to wear and I quickly forgot that they were on. All I notice are the scary abominations chasing after me in a true cliffhanger fashion. Each time I feel like I’m done for but we get away and the story continues.

3D Movie Review - Avatar

I’ve seen many excellent 3D movies and this was the best! I felt immersed in a fantasy that was bigger than life. I think the best part of the movie was the story line and the acting. Both were very convincing and very real. James Cameron is a genius!

This movie definitely shows how well 3D can be done. The manner in which 3D was incorporated was amazing. The 3D effects were there to enhance the effects of the movie and not to take over the movie. I was really able to get right into the movie and it felt like I was really there.

Everything in the movie looked so life like and real.

I highly recommend you see the best 3D movie I have ever seen, Avatar!

Sample 3D Photos

My coworker took some very nice photos that I want to put up on the web. He took the left and right images and I used some software to help me put them together. Still, you will have to use your left right buttons to control the degree of separation. I will try to improve on that with more practice or different software.
These are 3D images done with a pair of 2D cameras. If you want to know more about how to take 3D pictures just look for my previous article about how to take 3D pictures.

This first picture is of a little guy that came to visit all those tourists at the Hoover Dam.

He was such a good sport that I had to take another of him. I hope you can adjust the photo on your 3D monitor or 3D TV to get the right picture.

A Bigger Than Life 3D Monitor

Pavonine Korea has come out with a 3D monitor that is a monster. Actually, it’s a bunch of monitors put together called the Multicube. They have put multiple 46” 3D monitors together into a much bigger display. The Multicube comes in two huge sizes, 4 units and 9 units. The four 3D monitor Multicube is a 2 by 2 and the 9 3D monitor Multicube is 3 by 3. That’s right, try watching a 3D movie on nine 46” 3D monitors! I’ve seen it at KES and it was amazing.

3D Movie Review: My Bloody Valentine

This 3D movie was awesome! I really found the movie to be quite fun to watch. Scary movies are always interesting for me. But when it’s in 3D, now that takes it to a whole new level! Definitely not a movie for kids, the gore is extreme and popping out at you in 3D!
The quality of the 3D effects was amazing. They are really turning 3D movie making into an art.
As for the acting and the plot, it was surprisingly good. They didn’t sacrifice the movie for the 3D effects.
I highly recommend this movie to any adults who like scary movies.

Where to find 3D movies?

So now you’ve got your 3D monitor or your 3D TV, but what can you watch in stereoscopic 3D? Well if you look there are a lot of places where you can find it. The internet is full of places where you can watch 3D movies or look at 3D pictures. Some are for use with 3D monitors and passive glasses, and some are anaglyph. It’s fun trying both!

Autostereoscopic 3D: No Glasses but still 3D

In the business people are often talking about stereoscopic and autostereoscopic but what do they mean?
Stereoscopic is a 3D picture or movie that has two points of view. You see them in stereo giving you the 3D effect. When you put on the glasses, they filter the images so each eye only sees one picture. That allows you to see 3D. This is often used for 3D movies and 3D computer games, but can also be applied to many professional areas like design, medical/bio, GIS and product presentation. Now you can work with 3D on the job and then go home and watch it on your 3D TV or 3D monitor.
As for Autostereoscopic, it is similar to stereoscopic 3D but you can see the 3D effect without wearing the glasses. With this kind of 3D, there may be two points of view or multiple points of view. There are different ways of making these displays such as the parallax barrier and lenticular lenses.

FujiFilm has a new camera on the market and I do mean new!
Now for better or for worse you get to see your familily and friends jump out of the pictures right at you! Their new camera is capable of taking 3D pictures. But watch out! Now there are two lenses instead of one, so your fingers have even more chances of being in the picture.
But now you are wondering where you can see these 3D pictures after taking them, and that’s a good question.

How to Make 3D Pictures

Taking 3D pictures can be very easy to do these days. You can either buy a 3D camera to take 3D pictures very easily, or you can use a regular 2D camera to take 3D pictures. To use a regular camera will take some extra effort but can still look very good.
First, take a picture of the desired object, person or scene. Now move your camera about 6.5 cm to the right and take a second picture to the right and take a second picture of the same object. Make sure that the height and angle remains the same. Next, copy the pictures onto your computer. Use a 3D image tool to merge the two pictures into one single image. This can be tricky and you should take time to choose the right software for you. Otherwise you might spend too much and the quality of your 3D photo might not be good.
Also, you should choose what 3D type you prefer for your image: side-by-side, or top-bottom. Save and enjoy your wonderful 3D image.
